“The programmer, like the poet, works only slightly removed from pure thought-stuff. He builds his castles in the air, from air, creating by exertion of imagination.”
- The mythical man-month by Fred Brooks.
This year, FuturistFest invites you to become the programmer. Choose one of the following social issues to work on, and let your creativity lead the way:
EDUCATION
One of the sustainable development goals that will make a powerful impact in the future is goal number 4, quality education. Did you know that in developing, low-income countries, every additional year of education can increase a person's future income by an average of 10%?
Environment
On August 9th 2021, UN scientists called a 'code red' for humanity. Climate Change is a huge problem that everyone seems to ignore. How will you code a program that can help climate change?
Inequality
Inequality can come in many forms such as racial inequality, gender inequality or wealth inequality. Did you know that billionaire's wealth is greater than 60% of the world's population? How can we help people live lives above the poverty line?
HealthCare
Who would have thought that in 2021 we would be living a real-life movie. Ever since the pandemic hit, there has been many conversations regarding healthcare. How can we ensure the people are safe and healthy?
Rules
-
All work must be original; plagiarised submissions will immediately disqualified
